April Goals

So...

We are almost to the end of March. I am looking forward to the monthly summary from nehnaa if she is still willing to do it. We have been busy little bees this month, and more importantly, we have found a lot of new friends this past month who joined us and ended up being fabulous crafters and people. Yay and yay!

As she has been mentioning, funfairiegirl will be mostly incommunicado over the next week as she is going on vacation (the lucky lucky ho that she is...:) ) So, I am all about making her pay by inundating the blogspot e-mail with e-mails so that we can start increasing our numbers over there. Bwa ha ha.

Additionally, for those of you who practice Christianity, the joyous holiday of Easter is coming up, and for those of you of the Jewish faith, Passover is coming up. And for those of you who do not practice any particular faith, spring and nicer weather is coming up (please let it be so).

All of that happiness said, there is also a lot going on that is spurring me on to work harder and harder to try to spread the sunshine where I can. There are people in the world right now who are so far from happiness that holidays probably do not even reach their consciousness anymore. I know that it might be idealistic to think that our handmade contributions can make a difference in these people's lives, but I really believe that all humans want to know that they are cared for and remembered, and what can say that more than something someone made with their own hands?

Therefore, perhaps in wanting to fill the void left in Funfairiegirl's temporary absence, or perhaps because I am just really worried about the world, I'd like to set some pretty ambitious goals for the coming month of April. I'm going to check off the goals as we reach them.

• A month from now, I'd like to be posting close to 300 finished items

• A month from now, I'd like to have it decided what we are doing about having two wonderful and functioning blog communities (I am hoping to set up a poll on this soon)

• A month from now, I'd love to have us at 100 members or more. This can be between the two blogs. If you are a member of a knitting or crochet or charity community, please e-mail the moderator and see if you would be able to let folks know about what is going on here.

So, three goals for April. I think they are all pretty do-able. No pressure...just stuff to aim for.

I'd also like to bring up once more the idea of someone kind of running a sub-group in May that would dedicate energy towards making things for the troops and/or troops' families. If anyone would like to spearhead that, please let me know.

Thank you all for being so wonderful and making such beautiful things!

I have faith that we can do all of that (and maybe more?). As much as I'd love to, I don't have the time to head May's 'helping the troops' goal. Although I could email/call around to see who collects what.

I really want to join up with sending stuff to the soldiers, as soon as it gets going. I have way to much on my plate right now to head it up, but I do want to join in.

I'm not going to be able to do much right now..but this fall I'm hoping to kick out a bunch of things. I know...that doesn't help much right now, but I will do what I can!

I wish there was a way to respond directly to posts over here. Maybe there is a way and I just don't know how to do it. In any case...

theonlyevidence: Thank you for your optimistic reply. Any help regarding figuring what the best charities are for troops would be great!

Amy (death by yarn): Duly noted. I might end up heading that thing up myself since it was my idea :D Seems only fair, right?

Swngdncr: Great to meet you! Don't worry. There's no time table about when you should donate stuff. We don't chase after you with knitting needles if you're a member but haven't posted yet. We appreciate you joining and look forward to your insights :)
